 We are located at 150 Sam Houston Jones Parkway in Moss Bluff.  We have been at this location since about 1990.  We have 3 exam rooms to see your pet in.  We also have a huge lobby area for you to relax in while waiting for your appointment.

    Dr. Harper

    Dr. William Patrick Harper, DVM owns and operates the Animal Medical Center located in Moss Bluff, Louisiana.  He was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA and attended Lake Charles High School and McNeese State University.  He graduated from Louisiana State University school of Veterinary Medicine in 1981.  He has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for over 30 years and is just as passionate today as the day he decided to become a Veterinarian.  After graduating from LSU, he worked at a very busy 4 Doctor Veterinarian Clinic in the Houston Texas area for about a year, to gain experience in private practice before returning to open Animal Medical Center of Moss Bluff in August 1982.  After being located on Hwy 171 for 8 years, he moved his practice to the present location on Sam Houston Jones Parkway next to Jeff Davis Bank.  Dr. Harper and his wife Kathy have 14 pets.  His cats include a Domestic Longhair named Big Boy, 3 munchkin cats; Tamale, Stumpy, and Smudge.  His Dogs include 2 Bloodhounds, Jed and Ellie May, 3 Toy Australian Shepherds; Cowboy, Panda and Yogi, and 3 Miniature Dachshunds; Oscar, Zadok and Ray Charles.  Last, but not least 2 macaws, Jada and Topaz.

  • Dr. Jennifer Smith

    Dr. Jennifer Smith grew up in Westlake, La. 
    She first joined our AMC Family in 2009 while attending McNeese University for her undergraduate degree. With a strong commitment to our community, she returned after graduating from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine as a full time Doctor in 2017. She has a unique interest for radiology, ophthalmology & surgeries, but takes pleasure in all small animal needs. 
    Her and her husband, Eric, have 2 daughters, their 1 cat Tiger, and 2 dogs Bella & Jade. When she is not in the office she is enjoying the outdoors with her family!

  • Dr. Sally Kate Scroggs

    Full Time Veterinarian
    Dr. Sally Kate Scroggs graduated from Mississippi State University of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She was born and raised in West Point, MS. & moved to Southwest Louisiana after graduation. She has 2 daughters, 2 birds, and her 6 dogs: Sarah, Annie, Amelia, Huck, Cricket, and Dolly. 
    5 of her 16 years serving our community has been devoted full-time to the Pet Emergency Clinic of Lake Charles. She is a member of the Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society as well as an inaugural member of IVPOCUS. Dr. Scroggs is passionate about Ultrasound / ER Ultrasound and Ophthalmology, but takes pride in all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine and surgery.

    Clinic Manager
    Jodi has been with Animal Medical Center since August 2010.  She oversees all the daily tasks and assists in all areas of the clinic where needed.  She has been in the Pet Industry for about 15 years on and off and has been managing in the industry for about 10 years.  Jodi is a Veterinary Nutritional Advocate with Hill's and received a certificate in June 2011, she also received her certificate from the American Institute of Medical Laser Applications to perform Laser Therapy for companion animals in March 2011.

    Angelle first joined our team in 2014 as a kennel technician. 
    Now, you will see her smiling face greeting customers at the front desk or assisting the Veterinarians. She takes pleasure in routine dental procedures and assisting with tumor removal surgeries. 
    She and her husband, Austin, have two dogs Brody & Blue that they enjoy bringing to the park and going for Jeep rides!

    He has one cat, Freya, whom he rescued out from under the hood of a coworkers car. When not at work Reggie indulges in his writing and movie watching.
